Some of the Fine Details and some random comments, maybe not in that order.

A word about Barbara Broadcast……..

Well it is already the second week of July and the summer is cruising past. Without a doubt, this Barbara Broadcast rebirth has been tough and long, not unlike Misty. As things progressed with this entire project, my intent on making things as good as they could be became as strong as ever, and I think that is the nature of trying to always do the best you can. From the beginning of this restoration it was clear to me that I wanted to have fun with it, but also take the nature of the restoration very seriously, and the history, packaging, etc, of course. Misty was such a huge project and a huge success, and I was so burned out on it, but really did not take any rest, if anything things got crazier, literally for several months. I think I can relate to the way Radley Metzger aka ‘Henry Paris’ described feeling when he finished 12 grueling weeks of editing The Opening of Misty Beethoven, he was tired, he was burnt out and he needed a break from the monotony. Thankfully for all of us, that break turned out to be Barbara Broadcast.

Instead of globe-trotting over 3 countries and 2 continents and shooting and editing for months, Metzger took the opposite approach and went with the flow. And during the first week of August 1976, Metzger and his crew gathered in midtown Manhattan to film Barbara Broadcast, a shoot that would only last one week and not leave the confines of the Big Apple.

But what was it about that one week in August 1976? That one very hot week. There was heat from all the lights, heat from too many crew members packed in one small space, heat from the eroticism portrayed throughout the film. What happened during this week in August 1976, would forever transform the landscape of erotic films. It would raise the bar yet again, and re-establish the fact that a thin story, can still be a masterpiece. Barbara Broadcast was created.

The fact is that Henry Paris was so hot. He was reaping the ongoing success of The Opening of Misty Beethoven and he was so popular, and literally straddling the apex of the porn-chic era. It was almost too successful and the public, the fans, well they just wanted another Henry Paris film and that is exactly what Radley gave them. Not even %100 clear, why he titled the film Barbara Broadcast, Radley Metzger has said on a few occasions, something to the affect that ” It almost didn’t matter what I made, I just needed to make another film”. Maybe it was this attitude, and the lack of hard core pressure, as compared to Misty Beethoven to get this film produced. Maybe it was a perfect storm, but one thing that is clear, this is a wonderful film, and I am thankful to have been able to restore this classic, to look and feel as it did when it premiered.

Things are stating to wrap up over here on the Barbara Broadcast project, but we are not out of the woods just yet, really the work is just beginning. But the physical elements, artwork and packaging, Blu ray and DVD are all in one stage or another of physical production and things have been trickling in. It has been a big project for me as for personal time invested as usual, but more importantly the financial burdens in taking on a project like this, is really tough. So much needs to be made and created, and that cost money. Even if you are an engineer and are the best at what you do, unless you own printing presses, replication factories and such, sometimes one must lay out tens of thousands of dollars. With all of that said, Barbara is turning out to be my favorite package to date. But as much as I love it, I need to sell it, so pre-order, or just order when it comes out. It is a total collectible, and if it sells as well as I think it can, than I will be very seriously considering taking the rest of the Henry Paris titles to Blu Ray.

Thank you all for you support throughout these long projects.

I do want to take a moment to say thank you to all the people that were involved in creating this epic package, especially my team of experts around the world, from historians, to narrators, to film experts, to language translators- you guys made this happen- without you, it would not have turned out such a success. And I hope many of you will enjoy what we have done to Barbara Broadcast for decades to come and we hope we did right by future generations.

THE FOLLOWING IS A DETAILED CONTENT LIST OF THE FEATURES and EXTRAS on the Barbara Broadcast Blu Ray and DVD packages:

Extras for this one were challenging, but fun, A but lighter than the misty package for sure, but just as ambitious.

MAIN FEATURES- HOT AND COOL VERSIONS- SCANNED in 2k, COLOR CORRECTION AND DIGITALLY RESTORED. 1.85:1 ASPECT RATIO- WIDESCREEN. UNCUT.

Director Commentary with Radley Metzger- Full Length Audio commentary. Again, maybe the best, although I always say that, candid discussion between Adult film historian Benson Hurst and legendary director Radley Metzger, who clearly have a chemistry that is infectious, as they discuss these films. (82 min) DVD and BLU

Actor Interview/Commentary with Michael Datorre- This is where I traveled about 3 hours north into the Catskill Mts of NEW YORK, and Michael treated me to a day of storytelling and laughter, which is wonderful and he speaks of everything from his days growing up in NYC, to his early love of theater, to the adult biz and of course Radley and Barbara Broadcast. A TRIBUTE TO THE PLAYERS- This feature takes a brief look at the lives of 4 of the actors on Barbara Broadcast, Annette Haven, C.J. Laing, Bobby Astyr, and Suzanne McBain. Written by Benson Hurst and colorfully narrated by Michael Datorre. The short is illustrated with rare outtakes, slides, contacts and other rare footage. (approx 20 min) – DVD ONLY

The Making of Barbara Broadcast - is a summarized look at the making of the film, again rare outtake footage and never before seen contact sheets from the set are used to illustrate this totally unique look back at the Olympia Ballroom. The script was written by myself and Ian Culmell, who did the majority of the proofing. It is narrated by voice over powerhouse Jerry Lentz, who adds a nice touch to the overall feel. It is not very long, but very informative and should keep ones attention throughout. (approx 16 min)DVD ONLY

RADIO SPOTS-Something which I am really excited about and we heard a taste, was that Radley had found some never before transferred Radio Spots, which are some of my favorites and we have been archiving quite a bunch in general. But for Barbara, I decided to transfer them on the Nagra, and they are clean and simply awesome, there are about 4 or 5 original ones, and are added to the rest of the Henry Paris Radio Spots.(approx 7min)DVD and BLU

DVD MENU GRAB- Original Henry Paris Radio Spots.

DVD MENU GRAB- Original Henry Paris Radio Spots.

THE OUTTAKES-, an extension of what was done with Misty Beethoven, essential scoured the outages that were transferred, some in HD, some in SD, and began to assemble a nice collection of silent outtakes from the scenes of Barbara. Coming in at 35 min, it is hefty in value, but really only a short taste from each scene, set to theme music from the film. These have never been see before and are the outtakes to the scenes in this film, I think for the true collector, this is probably the most valuable, along with the commentary. (approx 35 min) DVD ONLY

DVD MENU GRAB - Outtakes From The Vault.

THE ORIGINAL HENRY PARIS TRAILERS- ALL 5 of them- transferred in HD from the negatives- The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann, Naked Came The Stranger,The Opening of Misty Beethoven, Barbara Broadcast, Maraschino Cherry (approx 20 min) DVD ONLY. The Blu ray has the original theatrical trailer only.

Rare Slideshow/ Vintage Ephemera Gallery- this is a collection of rare slides and images from the Audubon archive, all original and for the most part scanned by me for the first time. I went through literally hundreds of scans and scoured the folders of Barbara paper ephemera, like old newspaper ads, and letters from reviewers, ad mats, etc. It is a nice walk down memory lane with images of Barbara Broadcast. DVD and BLU.

DVD MENU GRAB - Rare Slideshow and Ephemera Gallery- Never before seen images

And I also want to mention that everything was made from scratch for the most part, both packages have custom designed disc menus, that carry the new theme and concept thoroughout, both the DVD and BLU.

And continuing in our tradition of multi- language Henry Paris releases, Barbara Broadcast too has 6 language tracks for both the hard and soft version, not too mention a wonderful FILM FACTS trivia track on the Hard version , which is so full of facts, it is mind blowing, I highly recommend it.

THE HARD GOODS: (what is in the box?) Liner notes, extras

As for the hard good is concerned- and continuing with my love and tradition of concept and the hard good, this one may top them all off. I have created for both the DVD and BLU package, totally unique packaging, embossed and detailed O card will make sure Barbara stands out among the collector’s thousands of DVD/and Blu Ray’s.

LINER NOTES:

And maybe my favorite extra and one that gives me the most joy in producing or assembling, is the liner note books we have become known for printing. These notes, give us a chance to tell the story of the film, give some history. And as for the book, it is a 28 page book, and it is my favorite one to have worked on to date. It has contributions by some of the very best out there, like the history by adult historian Benson Hurst, a page on the music by Ian Culmell, a letter that reminisces about a BB experience from an anonymous fan, calling himself Storm Rider, and an original mini-comic illustration by artist, comic book creator, and writer, the multi talented Robin Bougie.

I like to produce things and bring people together, I can write the history as well, but no nearly as good as some others. So I like to surround myself with people that are much better than me or can do it much better than me. I like to bring it all together and lay it out and make sure it entertains, I think that this book does just that.

PACKAGING and EXTRAS:

Both packages come with embossed O card packaging, double sided box art, photo card insert collectible, double sided custom bookmarks, – ALL LIMITED.

Hello everyone, Thank you very much for your continued support, and kind words. I have been off the grid for about 2 weeks or so, and I am sorry, my days blend to nights without much of hitch and with so much to do here, it sometimes gets tough to stay on top of my social networking.

I do have to start by saying that the Pre-Order period for Barbara Broadcast was not good. Fortunately, I can say, without a doubt, that it was a FUCKING GREAT!!!! From around the world- you guys and gals are outrageous. I was absolutely blown away with the amount of customers that came out of the gates with some serious GUSTO. Our new storefront was swamped for about the full pre-order period and around the clock orders came in. They piled up and it took some serious hours over the past 2 weeks doing mainly 2 things:  seeing the packages through the end of production to assembly, and processing  hundreds of pre-orders.

This package is not good, it is excellent! It is tops and highly recommended. I stepped up to the plate and made it BLU, you guys came back again, and showed me that there is demand. The pre-order period is crucial for any studio-large or small, but in my case it is more than vital, as it not only lets me know if the project will have success, but equally as important it generates the income needed to pay back many vendors and suppliers, which in many cases is the biggest obstacle when it comes to blu ray production. Thank you so much.

The current status of the Barbara Broadcast Blu Ray Combo Packs and the 2 DVD set is on Schedule. The physical assembly had begun earlier in the week and all of the assets are in the warehouse, with the exception of the DVD’s, which are expected on Friday. The final assembly will occur over the weekend and the pre-orders will begin to ship during the first week of August- next week!

Expose Me Lovely-Packaging FILM Elements for Shipping

It is not uncommon to have print requests for theatrical screenings all over the country, and in many cases we are able to accommodate. About 2 weeks ago, I was told that I needed to send a MINT Print, to a theater in Chicago. I was to send the parcel Fed Ex, with insurance and needed to get it out ASAP.

As for archival elements they can really come in many shapes and sizes, some are in suitcase style film carriers, others in tins, some on spools, and some just naked( plastic bags). To be blunt, if you care about film in general, regardless of what  the content, you must be gentle when transporting, handling, and or transferring.  Although one can only do so much to protect their film elements during transfers–, accidents happen—  deliver guys drop boxes, parcels get wet, they get delayed, etc, etc.

Being the nutty/anal retentive/OCD/ADHA that I am, I tend to take everything I do to the max, but in many cases, this is not a detriment, but just the opposite. My packing method shows that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing right.  There may be some that disagree with my technique and think it is overkill, but I think it is essential. So much of American Film has been destroyed, lost and damaged beyond repair, so for the small percentage that still survives, it is vital to treat elements like valuables.

Here is how to pack archival film, to insure that it arrives at it’s location in perfect shape!

DETAILED STEPS AND PHOTOS TO TRANSPORT ARCHIVAL FILM ELEMENTS:

STEP 1. If using a cardboard box to transport elements, make sure the box is in good condition and if possible use an extra thick, corrugated box.  This films is rather long and and contains 5 full reels, weighing about 50 pounds. A strong box is essential, and in my case, I use the double-box method.

Expose Me Lovely Film Print, Mint condition, Wound tight, on 5 reels. Make sure reels are labeled well.

1.Expose Me Lovely Film Print, Mint condition, Wound tight, on 5 reels. Make sure reels are labeled well.

STEP 2.  Stack Reels inside the box and use pieces of cardboard, newspaper and or bubble wrap, to reduce friction and or uneccessary movement. This may seem over kill, but the truth is that many theaters and film festivals, don’t always return the elements with same love as we send them, so the extra steps I take, will help that much more. For example, I make sure to mark my boxes with ” DO NOT THROW AWAY THIS BOX!”, because I want them to re-use them and basically, the work is done.

Elements packed inside corrugated box, newspaper padding at corners, notice extra cardboard supports at sides.

SETP2. Elements packed inside corrugated box, newspaper padding at corners, notice extra cardboard supports at sides.

STEP 3. Complete the packing the box to the top, pack down the paper and make sure it is tight. Cut pieces of Cardboard, so they cover the top of the box, and essentially you are creating a home of protection around the film elements.

STEP 3. Film elements stacked and box covered with Cardboard scraps for extra padding and support.

STEP 3. Film elements stacked and box covered with Cardboard scraps for extra padding and support.

STEP 4. Close the box and continue to secure the box with heavy duty packing tape, I recommend one with reinforcing fibers. This will become your first box and essentially this can be shipped as is, but I like to take it a few steps further.

STEP 4: First box packaged and reinforced, marked clearly, and in many cases, this can ship perfectly in this condition.

STEP 4: First box packaged and reinforced, marked clearly, and in many cases, this can ship perfectly in this condition.

STEP 5:  Take a heavy duty garbage liner, or plastic packing, and wrap the box, creating an extra barrier for accidental liquid encounters. Cardboard is like a sponge and if dropped in a puddle, or left wet for a few days in travel, it can soak through to the film inside.

STEP 5: Film Elements wrapped in heavy duty plastic, creating a moisture barrier.

STEP 5: Film Elements wrapped in heavy duty plastic, creating a moisture barrier.

STEP 6: Take another cardboard box, that is a bit larger than the film element box. Use bubble wrap to create a padded nook for your elements box. This is easy to do, only takes a few minutes and something I have adopted recently.

STEP 6: Take a larger box, use babble wrap to make a nook, and place archival film element box #1, into the larger box. this creates a padded nook for your elements.

STEP 6: Take a larger box, use babble wrap to make a nook, and place archival film element box #1, into the larger box. this creates a padded nook for your elements.

STEP 7: Continue to further pad and close the second box or OUTER BOX, as you did the first, use the same tape to mark the outer box and you are ready to ship!

STEP 7: Complete the packing of the OUTER BOX, use extra bubble wrap for top padding. and close with heavy duty tape.

STEP 7: Complete the packing of the OUTER BOX, use extra bubble wrap for top padding. and close with heavy duty tape.

STEP 8: Your films elements are as safe as they can be for their journey. It is recommended to put a note in the box, for the projectionist, with any requests or comments.  It only takes about 8-10 minutes to do this properly and if you have all of this material laying around, like I do, it is that much easier.

STEP 8: OUTER BOX, ready to ship, I like to add FRAGILE stickers and write "HEAVY", the total box weight is 49 pounds.

Barbara Broadcast Blu Ray Plus 2 DVD Combo Pack – Update/Technical Information
Barbara Broadcast Blu Ray Combo Pack
I want to thank all of you for the enthusiastic support you have given to our Barbara Broadcast Blu-ray release.  The reception has been amazing.  The release is the product of many months of hard work, so it’s thrilling to hear that you’re as pleased with the results as we are!
A small percentage of you have reported problems getting the Blu-ray disc to play back on your Blu-ray players.  We share your frustration with these difficulties and want to do whatever we can to help you resolve them.  Both the master and the production discs were rigorously tested for standards-compliance, compatibility, and replication quality at the manufacturing facility.  We also performed our own in-house compatibility testing on over a dozen different models of Blu-ray player with no playback issues.  While the discs themselves are defect-free and fully standards-compliant, certain older Blu-ray players which have not been updated to the latest firmware are unable to play the disc.
This is a frustration for everyone involved, but it happens sometimes even with major releases from the big studios. Blu-ray players are more complex than DVD players and, like a modern computer, sometimes require updates to work with all of the latest releases. Fortunately, updating your Blu-ray player is typically straightforward and almost always resolves any compatibility problems your player may have. (And it should help ensure you don’t encounter issues with other releases in the future!)
Barbara Broadcast Blu Ray Disc

Barbara Broadcast Blu Ray Disc

If your Blu-ray player is connected to the Internet, there is typically an “Update Firmware” option tucked away somewhere in its setup menu which can bring the player up-to-date.  If your Blu-ray player lacks this feature or is not connected to the Internet, a Google search for your player’s model number and the words “firware update” will almost always turn up step-by-step instructions on how to update it to the latest firmware.  (A helpful primer on firmware updates in general can be found here: http://hdguru.com/blu-ray-player-firmware-upgrade-issues/)
Note that some older players have been known to take several minutes to load and display the initial menu screen.  Please be patient and give the player 5 or 10 minutes after inserting the disc before deciding that it is unable to play it.
If updating your player to the latest firmware and giving it extra time to load the disc does not resolve your problem, please e-mail us the model number and firmware revision of your player.  If we are unable to help you resolve the problem and you prefer not to upgrade to a newer Blu-ray player, we will work with you to make the situation right.

Again, thank you all for your support and enthusiasm.  We look forward to sharing many other amazing releases with you in the months and years to come!

Happy 70th Birthday to the Godfather of Video

Happy Birthday to the Godfather of Video!

The Godfather of Video turns 70.

The Godfather of Video turns 70.

Arthur Morowitz, founder of Distribpix Inc, turned 70 years old this past weekend.

It is very common that we all see Birthday posts to our favorite porn stars, actors and other major players from the biz. But how often do we pay homage to the behind the scenes legends?

I took the day off on Saturday this past weekend and headed about an hour south to the beach to visit my father for his 70th Birthday. My wife and kids, my brothers and mom were all at the shore and together we celebrated the day. The weather was gorgeous, the day was pleasant and the fun culminated with a very enjoyable Italian dinner.

My father had been a workaholic for most of his life and in the 1960′s, he and his childhood friend, took what was left from their Bar Mitzvah funds and decided to become film producers! With little cash and not much else, they founded Distribpix Inc. which was essentially a small theatrical production company that focused on low budget B/W films, mainly of the sexploitation nature. Before long, soft core turned into hard core and he adapted and thrived- the company would blossom into an East Coast staple, for theatrical and eventually hard good distribution of all sorts.

Artie and Harriet, circa 1966, taken at Distribpix Inc.

Artie and Harriet, circa 1966, taken at Distribpix Inc.

The company remained very strong throughout 2 1/2 decades and in the 90′s  was temporarily mothballed. During his reign, King Arthur, not only revolutionized the adult theatrical experience, by being the first person to introduce day and date releasing, but he also had a huge part to do with the introduction of the modern video retail model and the promotion of the VHS from day one. My dad’s incredible mind for business and strategy, literally thrust him to the top of the video business heap, and he appeared on NBC news and other news forums on several occasions to discuss the video business. He was nicknamed the “Godfather of Video”, by many competitors.

Video Shack Catalog, 1984.

During his video tenure he served as the president of the VSDA,  operated and owned the chain of Video Shack stores throughout the tri-state area, owned the huge nationwide METRO Video distribution centers, became the exclusive producer for the WWF, now the WWE, where he worked closely with Vince Mcmahon, to bring the action of the wrestling ring into your living room on home video( of course I was responsible for introducing my father to the world of wrestling).  During this time, he experienced everything you can imagine- from mob intimidation to going against the Meese commission to becoming best friends with Hillbilly Jim! Go figure.

Video Shack, 49th Street. The World and Circus Theaters on each side.

I can go on and on and I find my father’s life absolutely fascinating, I have done a solid job preserving this business and film archive for the past 10 years or so. But in the past year, I have become particularly  obsessed with the rich history of his tenure, his business ways and the actual scope of his business. It was an empire, literally, and I got to experience it first hand. I was a kid, who spent much of my life growing up around Times Square. I hung out in his offices and in his stores, I worked in the stores, my grandparents worked in the stores, my brother worked in a few of the stores as well. I spent time in the theaters( World and Circus), I worked in the warehouses(METRO), I even attended the CES many times as a youngster. It was an awesome time. I saw things that I should not have seen, and I loved every minute of it.  I knew growing up was a bit different for me, because of my father’s career and dedication to his business and family, but it is only of late, now in my 40′s, that I am realizing just how unique it was.

My close friends  know that I cherish his legacy and this film archive, and in the process of  constant archiving and preserving, I have uncovered files, folders and most importantly photos and video, that have really never been seen before. Most recently, the second of two trunks was discovered by myself and it is most likely for me, the most important find to date. This trunk is filled with mini boxes and envelopes, chock full of artifacts from my fathers NYC days. Like the previous find last year, this trunk is full of his personal stuff as well…. like old day planners, some more amazing business cards, and the two best and clearly the most valuable finds. A full envelope of old theater( grindhouse) locations from around the country, and to top it off, some old 8mm NYC footage, from his camera!! It is mind blowing. I am even more anxious to have this footage transferred.

In the meantime, Happy Birthday!

You are a legend of the video industry, and a widely recognized business success and inspiration to many!

Oh, did I mention that he is also the number one source in the world when it comes to philately and numismatics(stamps and coins), which he was involved in before he ever got into the video business. It really is one hell of a story…….the tale of Philately, Pornography and Politics. LOL!

I love you dad and I hope I can make you proud one day .

Long live the “Godfather of video”!!

Stay Tuned for more………..

After a very long project and many months of post, it is wonderful to finally begin to see the reviews around the internet. So far, we have seen through reviews from Rock!Shock!Pop!, Mondo Digital and just recently Third Eye Cinema. All 3 reviews, IMO, are thorough and each critic obviously took the time, to not only watch the film, but to also explore the entire package. I am happy to also read that so far, the reviews have been favorable and accurate.

And remember, the most important thing to accomplish when making any re-release is to make sure you try to do it right, from the beginning, no matter what the project. In the case of Barbara, she is often shadowed by her older sister Misty, but if you take that away for a moment, the Barbara Broadcast Blu Ray Combo Pack is really a solid package, all around. If you have Misty on Blu, you have to have Barbara as well.

Once again, the incredible GGG, goes above and beyond with a stellar review, in her own style, as usual! I can’t tell you how much that I appreciate your support on all of these projects.

Another journey to visit adult industry legend, Eric Edwards!

Another journey to visit our soft spoken pal, Eric Edwards!

It was about 3 years ago that I had gone up to the mountains, about an hour north of Los Angeles, to visit legendary adult actor and all around gentlemen, Eric Edwards or Rob Everett(his real name). In 2010, I had wanted to go and visit Rob to meet him, as well as be able to talk to him about some of his adult roles as well as his life in general. I have been been around the adult industry in one form or another for much of my life, even as a youngster. I brought a professional camera crew and we were able to capture some amazing HD footage, some of which can be seen as extra bonus footage on the release of The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann, in the form of an interview. The remaining footage, much of which has not yet been seen, has been set aside and is reserved for upcoming  projects, as well as video doc clips!

When we initially posted the pics and clips from our first visit in 2010, so many of Rob’s fans came out of the woodwork, the Distribpix Blog lit up and people were happy to hear from him. This made Rob happy. We had kept in touch, but I have not made it back out to California, since I saw him. So you can imagine how happy I was, when I realized that I had to be back on the west coast for business reasons. It was the perfect opportunity and I would make sure to never go out there again, without visiting him. He is such a legend and sweetheart, for real. He is only about an hour and a half outside of L.A. and it really is quite beautiful in the mountains, the air is clean, fresh. There is a sense of calmness where he lives, almost a cross between the desert and Big Bear Mtns.

I would never want to feel like I am bothering anyone, nor do I make it a habit to knee-jerk retired adult stars or directors, so that I can get them on film or for certain DVD extras. Rob, genuinely wanted me to come and visit.

I was already going to be meeting with several of my colleagues in the Los Angeles area, but as usual I had the pleasure of chilling and traveling with close friend Joe Rubin, for much of my time in that great city. His love for L.A. is infectious and he loves to be there. Considering he is an archivist and one of the most astute minds on sexploitation films in the country today, he was more than thrilled to be visiting Rob, and I was happy to have him along for the ride!

Legendary adult director, Cass Paley( Wesley Emerson) was also going to visit Rob with his crew- for his own film project, and it was planned that way. We all know each other and we had set it up, so that we can see him at once, to not make things so invasive, as Rob has settled into a quiet lifestyle. They had arrived a few hours before us and had gotten some early morning footage of Rob feeding the ducks in his local park, which happens to be a tradition for Rob…….The park itself is gorgeous as well, and a great place to shoot pics and enjoy some good old mother nature.

Myself and Joe arrived about 2 hours after they had already started shooting, and I was greeted by Rob. We embraced each other and he gave me a warm hug, a big- warm hug. It felt great. I had introduced Joe to Rob and instantly we all hit it off. It was like, I never left. I mean we are both 3 years older than the last time we saw each other, but besides that, I think he looked great. He was smiling, but he always does. He was so cordial, but he always is. He is such a joy to be around. For hours we all spoke and it was wonderful to hear many different stories, and ones that I had never heard before.

An interesting aspect of this visit, is that Joe is a virtual encyclopedia of Erotic films and the film genre as a whole, and at one point, Joe got into the interviewer’s chair, to give Cass a breather, and it was really exciting. Joe was able to cite specific scenes, exact dialog -on a dime, and geographical locations where Rob’s films were even shot, and it truly helped to bring Rob back to the golden age. I mean, I had never known about Rob’s beloved bed, his amazing bed, that he had custom made in every way, the story is amazing and sad(HINT-future clip). He also opened up to us in even more detail about his battles with cancer, his treatments, the loves of his life, his children and how he is doing today.

Eric Edwards Interview - September 2013

Eric Edwards Interview – September 2013

Our day was running out and eventually we all had to head back toward L.A. But we decided to have a nice meal together on our way down the mountain and went to Rob’s favorite Chinese Restaurant, with a great view. Rob ordered some saki with his meal, we all relaxed and enjoyed some very soft conversation.

Rob is such a wonderful person, with a great sense of humor. In my opinion, Rob( Eric Edwards) has found a place in his life where he has solace. He has been through the meat grinder, to hell and back, from his battles with cancer, to lost loves. But, even since the last time we saw each other, he seems to have grown even more, and of course I am saying that from a distance and I am far removed from his day to day life. I just sensed during our day together that he truly speaks his heart, he is an absolute romantic, a lover and had just opened himself up, like I had not seen years ago.

He went into detail about his past loves, both with Arcadia Lake and Renee Summers.  He went into an almost play by play of his entire career, including his occasional perusal to his coffee table where he had arranged stick em tabs, complete with penciled notes.  From his loop days with Bob Wolf and Wolf Productions, to his mainstream acting career and commercials, through his adult industry tenure.

He really was prepared, even allowing us to view his treasured portfolio, complete with baby pics and head shots! Much of what we spoke about off camera is off the record, I mean we have a genuine friendship and that is something I would not want to jeopardize. But, he was very open about the majority of things we spoke about, and it was in front of the camera, and I think he is happy to let the world know that he is doing alright. I am more than happy to have Rob on board to work on any future projects, but I am more excited that I will be back in Los Angles much sooner than expected, and that will give me another chance to get together with the great Rob Everett( Eric Edwards).

In a huge sense, I am very thankful to Rob, for it was his sincere and candid conversation with us, detailing his battles with cancer, and what he dealt with on a daily basis for several years. He talks about the details of his treatments and why he decided to make those life changing decisions. His words are inspirational, they are truly from the heart and from the hip. I was so touched that he allowed us to record this very intimate look at his personal life, that I wanted to share some of the outtake footage from the B roll camera. I think it is a really special clip, and for those of you who want to see what Rob (Eric Edwards), looks like today, please enjoy this exclusive clip from our recent interview. And please feel free to send a note to Rob, he gets all of his messages thru the Distribpix Blog and or the The Distribpix Inc Facebook page. He is always happy to hear from his fans.

All in all, I am very thankful that we saw each other.  It was a very mellow and low key event, we really just hung out, talked and enjoyed each other’s company. I will see you again very soon, Your a legend of the adult industry, an absolute survivor of many hardships and possibly one of the most gentle and soft spoken souls that has come out of the golden age of adult filmmaking.
